Did you know that strong hips are the foundation for a healthy, active body? Whether you’re walking through nature, lifting your children/grandchildren, or simply getting out of a chair with ease, your hip strength plays a huge role in everyday movement. Here’s why:

  • Better Mobility & Balance Strong hips help you move freely and stay steady on your feet, reducing the risk of falls.
  • Less Pain, More Comfort Weak hips can lead to aches in your knees, back, and even shoulders! Strengthening them helps support your entire body.
  • Boosted Overall Strength Your hips are a powerhouse, connecting your upper and lower body. The stronger they are, the easier it is to stay active and injury-free.
  • Increased Energy & Endurance Strong hips make walking, climbing stairs, and exercising feel lighter and easier, keeping you energised throughout the day.

Easy Ways to Strengthen Your Hips
Nordic walking is one of the easiest ways to strengthen your hips. It engages your hip muscles with every stride, improving strength, flexibility, and stability while reducing strain on your joints. It’s a fantastic low-impact way to keep your hips strong and pain-free especially when combined with the warm-ups and stretches we do in class.

I love incorporating a great hip-strengthening move I learned from biomechanist Katie Bowman—she calls it the Pelvic List. Here’s a quick tutorial from her on how to do it

Taking care of your hips means moving with confidence, strength, and ease for years to come. Give them some love, and they’ll support you every step of the way.
